Pastor – Tyler Chavis

Tyler was raised in Newhebron, MS.  It was during his time there that Tyler surrendered his life to Christ and eventually surrendered his life to vocational ministry.  He is a graduate of Jones County Junior College, the University of Southern Mississippi, and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.  During his time at USM and following his graduation, Tyler held a variety of jobs as he worked in different aspects of agriculture, the oil industry, and retail sales.  He has also coached junior high athletics and taught middle school.

The Lord called Tyler and his wife, Brittany, to vocational ministry in 2010.  He served as the Associate Pastor/Youth Minister at Newhebron Baptist Church (Lawrence County) and Pastor of White Oak Baptist Church (Smith County) prior to being called to serve as Pastor at Foxworth First Baptist Church in May of 2018.

Tyler and Brittany have 2 children (Jase and Jessa), but it is not uncommon for more children to be in their home as they have also served as foster parents.

Tyler enjoys spending time with family, reading, hunting, fishing, and playing golf.  He counts it his joy to serve the Lord by serving the local church!

Student Minister – Connor Crosby

A native of Brookhaven, Mississippi, God moved Connor to Foxworth in an interim capacity in December 2018 and then in to a permanent staff member in November 2019.  He has severed numerous roles in ministry but loves nothing more than ministering to students.  Connor loves giving announcements, telling stories, and serving the local church.  His favorite passage comes from Daniel 3 with the story of Shadrach, Meshac, and Abednego.  In his free time, Connor enjoys playing Fortnite, watching Southern Miss sports, and long walks on the beach.  He mostly loves hanging out with students and is thankful for the gifts God gave him.  Connor is currently pursuing a history degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.  He is also pursuing ways to better manage his time.  It’s a very time consuming process.  Never hesitate to call or contact Connor.  He would love to hear from you!

Minister of Music – Donovan McComb

Donovan was reared in Columbia, MS and met Christ as a young boy in First Baptist Church, Columbia.  He is a graduate of Mississippi State University and Ole Miss Law School.  In addition to his role as Worship Leader of Foxworth First Baptist Church, he serves as Columbia Municipal Court Judge and in the Marion County Youth Court while maintaining a private law practice.

Donovan has always enjoyed music and the ways music can be used to worship God.  However, in 2004, God called him to use the desire of musical worship in a ministry format.  That year marked the beginning of his ministry as Music Director for Goss Baptist Church.  He continued in that capacity until 2015 when he began concentrating on Revival and Interim work.  Then, in 2017, God called him to Foxworth First Baptist Church where he, his wife (Joy) and son (Grayson), have enjoyed serving with such a wonderful, Spirit-filled congregation.

In addition to his family, work and ministry roles, Donovan enjoys duck hunting, dove hunting, fishing and golf (and he MAY have put his son on the same path).

“If you don’t have a church home, please visit Foxworth First Baptist Church!

It is a welcoming atmosphere and the people love to worship our Savior!”
